Complete prosthetic restoration in single visit...
CEREC is a computer system (CAD / CAM technology), that uses high-quality ceramic materials, capable of producing highly esthetic all-ceramic prosthetic restorations (inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers) on-site in dental practice.
Advantages:
- quickness,
- precision,
- all-ceramic prosthetics,
- superior esthetics and natural look,
- non-metal restorations with high strength and durability,
- no impressions and temporary crowns,
- restoration of several teeth in one visit.
What is CEREC system?
CEREC (Chairside Economical restorations of Esthetic Ceramic) is a system that uses high-quality ceramic materials, which mimic the characteristics and color of natural teeth, enabling high-quality and esthetic prosthetic restoration in single visit to the dentist.
How does CEREC 3D system work?
CEREC uses CAD / CAM technology (Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing). The system consists of a digital camera, computer and a milling unit. Dentist takes an optical impression of a prepared tooth with a special BLUECAM digital camera. Use of impression materials, which is uncomfortable for most patients, is not necessary. Optical impression is sent to the computer, where CAD-programme supported 3D model is made. Based on this model, the milling unit then very precisely cuts the restoration out of a ceramic block. Result of this process, takes about ten minutes, is a prosthetic restoration, that precisely fits the previously prepared tooth. This is then cemented to the tooth with a special adhesive, and polished to create the looks of a natural and healthy tooth.

What means CEREC system for the patient?
Nowadays people want to have their teeth restored with materials, which mimic the characteristics and color of natural teeth and also have good physical properties, i.e. toughness, resistance, long-life and do not contain any harmful substances.
Another very important criterion is time from beginning to the end of treatment, which should be as short as possible. CEREC system enables a single visit, high quality esthetic restoration, without temporary restorations, impressions and with single anesthesia.
Why is CEREC system the best?
CEREC ceramics is made from natural substances and is therefore completely harmless to the body. In the mouth, it acts like enamel of the natural teeth, does not react to hot and cold, does not stain and has a neutral taste. Its tooth-color, showing natural translucency, has a chameleon effect to mimic the adjacent teeth. Fluorescence is the same as of natural teeth. It is hard to distinguish the restoration from the natural teeth after treatment. Ceramics is much more resistant and durable material than composite, which is used for direct restorations.
CEREC treatment is minimally invasive. Only tooth decay or old mercury/composite fillings are removed. This is replaced with an inlay, computer designed and manufactured. Thus fewer crown restorations are indicated than with conventional methods. We can also use CEREC system for esthetic corrections of front teeth, for example veneers.

CEREC is an all-ceramic non-metal prosthetic restoration.
Adhesive technique is used to cement the restoration, making a strong bond between the tooth and ceramics. CEREC prosthetic restorations longevity is shown by a large number of studies and examples.
When does a patient need prosthetic treatment?
Severely destroyed teeth, which cannot be effectively restored by a filling/build-up, or when replacing old fillings, it is better to opt for prosthetic restoration with inlays (ceramic filling), onlays (partial ceramic crown) or crowns (all-ceramic crown). CEREC system can also be used for esthetic corrections of front teeth, for example veneers.
